Job Description

Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES) Program Administrators serve as the primary contact on disaster related recovery programs, and serve as a resource for State and local agencies, and communities seeking disaster recovery assistance.

Trainees will receive a combination of structured training, on-the-job training, and/or practical job performance to gain the knowledge and experience necessary to function at the full performance level.

Minimum Qualifications

You must meet the requirements below to qualify for this title.

A bachelor's or higher degree.

Advanced Placement

If chosen, you may, at the agency's discretion, be appointed to a higher level. You must inform the agency of any additional qualifications at your interview.

For Trainee 2 you must also have one year of professional experience in one or more of the following areas: administration of federal, state or locally funded grant programs; preparing and processing applications for disaster mitigation/recovery projects; processing requests for grant project payments and performing financial reviews required for final payment; damage assessment and identification of appropriate assistance funding programs; review of action plans or planning, organizing and coordinating disaster recovery programs involving local, state and federal agencies.

For the Full Performance Level you must also have two years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas: administration of federal, state or locally funded grant programs; preparing and processing applications for disaster mitigation/recovery projects; processing requests for grant project payments and performing financial reviews required for final payment; damage assessment and identification of appropriate assistance funding programs; review of action plans or planning, organizing and coordinating disaster recovery programs involving local, state and federal agencies.
