CIVIL SERVICE ANNOUNCES
ENHANCEMENTS TO WEB-BASED RESOURCES
For release: Immediate, Wednesday, November 15, 2006
Albany, NY-- The New York State Department of Civil Service announces recent improvements to its web-based desktop as part of the Strategic Directions initiative to update and refine the Department's business practices.
Originally introduced in August 2005, the web-based Business Suite provides tools for human resources professionals. The latest series of enhancements to the Business Suite incorporates feedback from a committee of employees from various divisions, user surveys and focus groups.
"The Business Suite makes the most current information available and easily accessible to employees in the Department," said Commissioner Daniel E. Wall. "The improvements to navigation increase functionality and help Department employees better serve the public, job seekers, current State and municipal employees and HR professionals."
Users of the evolving Business Suite application will notice navigation changes such as the incorporation of a search function, the addition of over ten category selections and greater organization of resources that previously existed in multiple locations.
The more robust Business Suite application provides benefits to employees including:
- Streamlined access to information-- in just one click in some cases;
- Direct log-on to programs, like NYSTEP, from the Business Suite; and
- Agency-wide availability of electronic resources such as the Civil Service Rules.
An external version of the Business Suite will be released to the public in the coming weeks. For more information or to use the Business Suite, please visit: http://www.cs.state.ny.us/businesssuite/.
