BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF CLASS
Positions in this title have direct responsibility for all budget and/or fiscal services. The incumbent directly supervises the development of the agencys annual budget; issues specific guidelines to Deputy Commissioners; makes recommendations to the Commissioner; works directly with the Division of the Budget (DOB) and legislative fiscal committees; and provides direct daily supervision of all day-to-day financial management practices of the agency.
These positions are located at the Department of Correctional Services (DOCS) and the State Insurance Fund (SIF).
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
CHIEF FISCAL OFFICER: management level; responsible for oversight of all agency budget and/or fiscal services.
RELATED CLASSES
Directors Financial Administration plan, direct and coordinate agency budgeting, expenditure control, finance and business administration activities to ensure that financial resources under the jurisdiction of the agency are managed properly and in accordance with a variety of laws and regulations.
ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Promotion: Permanent competitive service in a financial management position allocated to M-4 or higher.
