ASSOCIATE TRANSPORTATION ANALYST, GRADE 27

Classification Standard

 

            ASSOCIATE TRANSPORTATION ANALYST is responsible for a major portion of the planning and research program:  designs surveys; establishes new and meaningful counter programs; determines and defines systems of local, arterial, and express facilities; derives mathematical relationships necessary for reliable computer traffic simulations; develops theoretical statements of the relationships between vehicle density, volume, and speed and associated cost of accidents; designs programs to measure vehicle-miles of travel; maintains contact with traffic engineers, design engineers, and traffic safety officials of local, state and Federal governments.  QUALIFICATIONS:  Promotion:  Two years of permanent service as Senior Transportation Analyst.  Open Competitive:  Master’s degree or equivalent certificate in traffic engineering from an accredited college or university, and four years of progressively responsible professional civil or traffic engineering experience including at least three years of experience in highway planning or a bachelor’s degree and five years of progressively responsible civil or traffic engineering experience, including at least three years of experience in highway planning work of which two years must have involved the supervision of major studies.  Satisfactory civil or traffic engineering experience or technical institute training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college training.
