SENIOR NATURAL RESOURCES PLANNER, GRADE 18

Classification Standard

 

            These positions in the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation and the Adirondack Park Agency provide advice and assistance to agency executive staff in the development of long range programs involving all agency activities, with special emphasis on natural resources and outdoor recreation programs.

 

            Positions responsible for the coordination of the States planning and developmental activities in various regions of the State are classified in the Planning Series. 

 

            SENIOR NATURAL RESOURCES PLANNER, assists in coordinating, developing and evaluating programs, and assists in the formulation and continuous updating of portions of the Statewide Natural Resources Plan:  assists staff of the various Divisions in formulating program plans and in coordinating and reviewing such plans; may assist in coordinating and evaluating program plans which involve more than one division; assists in the development of goals and objectives for elements of the Natural Resources Plan by assisting in interpreting the broad resources goals identified by the Office of Planning Coordination, and by recommending items for inclusion in the Plan; maintains liaison at the appropriate levels with the Office of Planning Coordination and other interested agencies in the development of elements of the Natural Resources Plan; assists in maintaining relevant planning-programming-budgeting forms related to elements of the Natural Resources Plan; assists in the preparation of reports and studies.  QUALIFICATIONS:  Promotion:  One year of permanent service in a position allocated to Grade 14 or higher involving professional experience in forestry, forest recreation, wildlife, fisheries, or water or other natural resource areas.  Open Competitive:  Bachelors Degree and two years of satisfactory experience in natural resources planning or regional planning.  Thirty graduate credit hours in forestry, forest recreation, wildlife, fisheries or regional planning may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
