BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF CLASS
Positions in this class use a variety of software to format and produce examination booklets, instructions, and other examination materials. These positions are located only in the Department of Civil Service and in the State Education Department.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
These positions use a variety of software and specific formatting rules to electronically compose examination questions, response sheets, rating scales, and other examination materials for examinations conducted by the employing agency. This work is performed under strict timeframes and requires a very high degree of accuracy.
ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES
Prepare test questions, examination booklets, directions, and other examination materials.
· Use a variety of software packages to prepare text, charts, and tables.
· Insert and adjust graphics as needed.
· Follow specific formatting requirements.
· Adhere to tight timeframes and deadlines.
· Proofread work.
· Work with a goal of 100% accuracy.
· Learn new software as needed.
Keep materials and examination information secure.
Perform related clerical tasks.
Set up and maintain files and perform other clerical tasks. In the State Education Department, this includes documenting each step of the process for each test item as it is developed, revised, used, and, as needed, formally reviewed after use in an examination and assisting consultants and tracking their work time.
May answer phone calls.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Promotion: one year permanent competitive service as an Office Assistant 2 (Keyboarding).
