BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF CLASS

 

Positions in this title supervise and oversee the investigations of physician misconduct throughout Central and Regional Offices in the Office of Professional Medical Conduct.  Incumbents of these positions oversee the operations and assignment of all complaints in regional offices.

 

These positions are classified at the Department of Health (DOH).

 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

 

PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL CONDUCT PROGRAM MANAGER:  managerial; non-competitive; responsible for the supervision and oversight of the investigations of physician misconduct throughout central and regional offices in the Office of Professional Medical Conduct.

 

RELATED CLASSES

 

            Medical Conduct Investigators investigate complaints and reports relating to the conduct of physicians and physician assistants for DOHs Office of Professional Medical Conduct.

 

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES

 

Oversee the assignment of all complaints.

 

Design, coordinate, and implement a complaint investigation system to ensure on time completion of all investigations.

 

Research, analyze, and disseminate relative information and training.

 

Serve as a liaison to State, federal, and local entities, and other interested parties.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Non Competitive:  a Bachelors Degree and six years of professional experience where the primary responsibility is conducting clinical or criminal investigations including conducting in-person and telephone interviews, preparing formal written investigative reports, giving oral presentations of investigative findings, and participating in the prosecution of suspects.  At least one year of this experience must be in conducting clinical or criminal investigations of the conduct and practice of licensed health care professionals.  Three years of this experience must include case management and supervision of investigators engaged in the above-mentioned activities.

 

A Masters Degree in criminal justice or a closely related field can be substituted for one of the six years of experience.
