Positions in this class are located in several agencies with the largest number in the Department of Transportation.

CLASSIFICATION CRITERIA AND DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Motor Equipment Maintenance Supervisor 3 positions supervise and provide technical direction to a staff performing maintenance and repair, production coordination and scheduling, parts and record keeping, and support services operations for all motor driven equipment and motor vehicles assigned to a Department of Transportation regional equipment maintenance shop, or to a motor equipment maintenance operation of equivalent size.  The shop operations supervised by incumbents make both major and minor mechanical, electrical and hydraulic repairs and perform maintenance on a large number and variety of vehicles and equipment such as passenger cars, motor trucks and buses, tractors, bulldozers, cranes, pavers, and rollers.

A Motor Equipment Maintenance Supervisor 1 is a working supervisor of a staff of a minimum of 10 motor equipment mechanics and other positions performing major and minor mechanical, electrical and hydraulic repairs on gasoline and diesel powered self-propelled and non-self-propelled equipment.  The class of Motor Equipment Maintenance Supervisor 2 is presently under study and is therefore not discussed in this standard.
