Classification Standard
Supervisor of Electronic Equipment Maintenance is responsible for the maintenance and repair of a wide variety of complex electronic equipment and devices located at the Empire State Plaza and at other facilities in downtown Albany operated by the Office of General Services:
SUPERVISOR OF ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT supervises the use, maintenance and repair of closed circuit television and public address systems and the maintenance and repair of smoke detection, fire alarm, intercom, sprinkler and other surveillance systems; lay out, installs and tests closed circuit television and public address systems according to special requirements of the systems users and repairs and adjusts such equipment as necessary during its use; designs plans for new surveillance equipment or the relocation of existing equipment to better meet security needs; maintains and repairs a wide variety of complex electronic environmental controls and trains stationary engineering personnel in the monitoring and minor adjustment of this equipment; as a working supervisor performs and supervises electronic equipment repair including checking equipment schematics to locate defective circuits, using electronic testing devices such as oscilloscopes, signal generators and voltmeters and repairing defective parts or replacing them as indicated; orders parts; keeps inventory records; keeps records of all repair work performed; supervises subordinate maintenance personnel as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Five years of experience in the building electrical trades, including at least one year of journey level experience in the maintenance and repair of complex electronic systems in buildings. Apprentice training in the electrical or electronics trades or training gained by the completion of technical courses in the electrical or electronics trades or training gained by the completion of technical courses in the electrical or electronics trades at a school or institute may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required general experience.
