Classification Standard
Professional Assistance Program Coordinator directs, plans, coordinates, supervises and administers activities, initiatives and programs to assist impaired professionals to achieve reinstatement to licensure. This position exists in the State Education Department.
PROFESSIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM COORDINATOR: supervisory level in a unit that employs nursing and social work professional positions to assist individuals who have surrendered their professional licenses during a period of recovery from drug and alcohol addiction.
Assistants and Associates in Professional Education administer programs to process the professional licensure of eligible applicants. Incumbents are familiar with the requirements of licensure for many professions which are regulated by the State Education Department.
Professional Medical Conduct Program Manager oversees programs to effect requirements of the Department of Health regarding discipline of medical professionals who have violated professional practice codes.
PROFESSIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM COORDINATOR: coordinates assistance provided under contract or professional training to impaired professionals; oversees provision of technical assistance related to the collection, interpretation or processing of data; coordinates appointment of members to a decision making board which reports to the Board of Regents regarding programs of assistance to professionals; supervises, assigns and evaluates the work of nursing and social work positions which provide assistance to individuals and groups; develops and recommends legislative proposals necessary for effective operation of programs for assistance to impaired professionals; collaborates with national experts, professional organizations, and public interest groups in the development of initiatives to improve assistance to impaired professionals; represents the agency management on workgroups that develop policies on technology planning; advises the Board of Regents on actions, proposed regulations, policies and procedures regarding professional assistance programs; plans and administers contracts for program services as needed; coordinates, negotiates and plans Statewide conferences; and responds to requests for information or assistance from the public, the legislature or other government agencies.
Promotion: One year as an Associate in Professional Education, Grade 26.
