NOTES:
THE POSITIONS: These positions exist in the New York State Department of Civil Service in Albany.
DUTIES: Working in a clinical setting under the general supervision of the Director of Health Services Medical Service, the Employee Health Service Physician 1 will conduct medical evaluations of New York State employees to determine their ability to perform the duties of a State job title. The results of these evaluations will be used to support a variety of personnel decisions such as: involuntary leave, hiring, reinstatements, Workers' Compensation, reasonable accommodations, or family medical leave. The incumbent will also provide preplacement medical exams, consultation services, and occupational health medical monitoring services such as exposure to asbestos, heavy metals, noise, hepatitis or TB.
SUBJECT OF EXAMINATION: There will be no written test. The test will consist of an evaluation of your training and experience. Furnish complete information on your application form (OC-APP) to show that you meet the minimum qualifications. Do NOT send resumes. If you need more space, attach additional 8½ x 11” sheets, following the same format used on the application form. Additional unsolicited information will not be accepted after the last date for filing.
If you meet the Minimum Qualifications you will be sent a supplemental questionnaire to complete and return. The questionnaire will be used to evaluate your training and experience against the general background/critical activities of the position in areas such as: 1) board certification; 2) general or specialty practice; and/or 3) occupational health practice. This questionnaire will be the only basis for rating your training and experience.
Your final score must be 70 or higher in order to pass. Rank on the eligible list will be determined after adding any wartime veterans or Civil Service Law Section 85-a credits to your final passing score.
