NEW ON-LINE APPLICATION PROCESS: The New York State Department
of Civil Service now offers the opportunity to apply for this open-competitive
examination via the internet MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: On or before April 29, 2006, you must have professional experience in planning governmental marketing campaigns which included: trade shows; presentations to trade groups, manufacturers or producers; and developing promotional publications; or conducting market research for a governmental agency, including developing surveys, analyzing industry trends and conducting industry studies; or marketing insurance products for a governmental agency whose customers include both public and private industry as follows: For Nos. 28-070 and 28-071: six years of the required experience. For Nos. 28-072, 28-073, 28-074: seven years of the required experience. Substitution: A bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years of the above experience. A master's degree in business administration, marketing, or public administration may be substituted for an additional one year of the general experience. THE POSITIONS: Business Marketing Program Analyst 1 positions exist in the Department of Economic Development and the State Insurance Fund. Business Marketing Program Analyst 2 positions exist in the Department of Agriculture and Markets, the Department of Economic Development and the State Insurance Fund. All the positions are located in Albany. DUTIES: As a Business Marketing Program Analyst 2, you would identify, develop, implement, and coordinate marketing programs and plans to support agency activities; execute special promotional campaigns, programs, and services to customers; provide input into business development and public relations; represent agency in marketing and advertisement efforts and act as agency liaison for industry contacts; prepare marketing and other related research studies designed to analyze recent agency trends; assist in preparation of agency marketing plan; identify marketing and business opportunities; maintain knowledge of laws, rules, policies, and procedures impacting agency marketing, promotion, and business development activities. As a Business Marketing Program Analyst 1, under the supervision of a Business Marketing Program Analyst 2, you would assist in the performance of duties performed by and described under the Business Marketing Program Analyst 2. SUBJECT OF EXAMINATION: There will be no written test. The test will consist of an evaluation of your education and experience. When you apply, you must provide complete information to show that you meet the minimum qualifications. Do NOT send resumes. Additional unsolicited information will not be accepted after the last date for filing. If you meet the Minimum Qualifications you will be sent a supplemental questionnaire to complete and return. The questionnaire will be used to evaluate your education and experience against the general background/critical activities of the positions. This questionnaire will be the only basis for rating your education and experience. Your final score must be 70 or higher in order to pass. Rank on the eligible list will be determined after adding any wartime veterans' and Civil Service Law Section 85-a credits to your final passing score.
