Distribution of new flyer about Medicare Risk HMOs

We have revised the November 1997 Special Report for Participating Agency Retirees and Dependent Survivors enrolled in the Empire Plan: The Empire Plan and Medicare Risk HMOs. This publication alerts Participating Agency retirees to the risks of joining a Medicare Risk HMO while covered under the Empire Plan.

We will mail The Empire Plan and Medicare Risk HMOs to retiree homes in early May. We will send you a supply equal to 10 percent of your NYSHIP actives enrollment for you to give to new retirees. As we explained in PA-98-05 dated March 13, 1998, we will fill any backlog orders for the November 1997 version of this flyer with copies of the revised flyer.

If you need additional copies, we have supplied a new Publications Supply Request Form that includes this flyer (EP-Rev P.A. Risk-98). Please do not order until you receive your initial supply. Please do not use old copies of the request form or write anything in the borders or white space. When you fax your order form, you do not need to send a cover sheet, provided you fill out all necessary information. Please take the time to fill out your order form completely so that if we have any questions we can call you.

If you have any questions, please call the Communications Unit at (518) 457-7577.

Thank you for your assistance with this distribution.
