Lola Brabham is the Acting Commissioner of the Department of Civil Service, the principal human resources provider for the Executive Branch of New York State Government, serving approximately 150,000 employees. In this capacity, she oversees the administration of the civil service merit system, along with the New York State Health Insurance Program. Commissioner Brabham has more than 20 years of distinguished government experience and was appointed to her current position by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo in April of 2015.

Prior to joining the Department, Ms. Brabham served as the Deputy Commissioner for Administration and Chief Financial Officer for the New York State Department of Labor. She previously served as the Director of Human Services and the Assistant Secretary for Health, Medicaid and Oversight in the Executive Chamber under Governor David Paterson and has also held senior positions in the New York State Division of Budget. Commissioner Brabham's comprehensive and versatile government career began with her early role as a Legislative Budget Analyst for the Assembly Ways and Means Committee and as Chief of Staff to State Assemblyman Nick Perry.

Ms. Brabham possesses a dual B.A. in Criminal Justice and Sociology from the State University of New York and an M.P.A. from Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy.
