Description:
The Intern will serve in the Bureau of Public Awareness and Prevention at the NYS Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence (OPDV) with tasks related to preparing for the annual campaign, "Shine the Light on Domestic Violence," as well as additional internal and external communication and public awareness projects.
The campaign, which takes place during the month of October (Domestic Violence Awareness Month), provides resources and support for individuals and organizations throughout New York to "Turn the State Purple." Intern should be assertive, self-motivated and a good written and verbal communicator. S/he will be making cold calls to engage participation and follow-up calls with past participants, as well as potentially implementing involvement with NYS-based corporations and other new initiatives as determined by supervisor. Possible additional projects may include: finding social media content; compiling statistics; running website analytics reports; and locating and organizing relevant photos for a variety of projects. Intern may also be asked to develop or assist with new publications related to the campaign or other projects. Ability to do graphic design using Microsoft Publisher or Adobe InDesign is a plus, as is having some experience with Excel. Hours are flexible.
