Proposal Information

Description:

This student assistant position is with the Voice Orders Unit. The selected candidate will assist with a variety of activities directly related to the support of End Users access and use of telecommunication services supported by the Voice Orders group. The duties will include processing orders for the VoIP desk phones, POTS lines and cabling requests, sending out requested equipment as needed, creating orders used to bill the customers for services requested and other telecommunication services supported by the unit.

The student assistant will develop the following skills as a result of this internship:

* Functional understanding of various telecommunication services used in both the public and private sectors
* Functional understanding of service request system (ITSM) and Pinnacle billing system which will be applicable in both the public and private sectors
* Understanding or vendors' electronic ordering systems for fulfillment of service requests
* The ability to collect or record relevant information from a variety of data bases used by both NYS and its vendors
* The ability to track the unit's activities and report to customers on an as needed basis.

This student assistant position will be scheduled for between 5 and 7.5 hours, three to five days per week (days and hours are flexible).

Basic Networking knowledge
