Proposal Information

Description:

NYS is transitioning the children's Medicaid behavioral health delivery system into managed care. To ensure services continue to be delivered appropriately to this vulnerable population, the State will be reviewing and overseeing the service delivery networks of participating Managed Care Organizations (MCOs).

The student will 1. Assist in the creation of tools and protocols to track the availability of children's behavioral health services. 2.Develop maps and presentations to demonstrate the MCO network adequacy of services to children on a regional basis. 3. Become familiar with children's mental health service delivery, managed care oversight and network design. 4. Present on the above topics to MCOs, providers, and the behavioral health community.

Sudent will utilize knowledge of the Medicaid system, and how MCOs administer the benefit in NYS. This position will expose the student to network mapping in ArcGIS and Tableau, but experience is not required.

This project will run for one semester. Hours can be flexible to the student's schedule between 8am-5pm.
