Description:
Student Intern will be provided with an opportunity to interact with a variety of health care providers in the ambulatory care setting; will obtain clinical experiences needed for independent and/or collaborative practice in the ambulatory care setting; will review epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment and monitoring for acute and chronic conditions seen in the facility; will become familiar with a systematic problem solving approach for monitoring and managing patients drug therapy; will provide medical staff with information on the expected efficacy/toxicity, PK/PD principles, recommended duration of therapy, and interactions of all pharmaceutical agents utilized; will develop and practice effective communication skills with patients and medical staff; and will learn the advantages and challenges of practicing pharmacy in a correctional setting.
