Proposal Information

Description:

New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo established the Office for New Americans (ONA) to assist newcomers to New York State who are eager to contribute to our economy and become part of the family of New York State. The New York State Office for New Americans helps New Americans fully participate in New York State civic and economic life. We are committed to strengthening New York State's welcoming environment for New Americans and facilitating their success.

ONA is looking for a Policy Intern to join its team. The ONA Policy Intern will:
* Will research, evaluate and propose policies for immigrants in New York State, referring to An Immigration Patchwork in the States: How Partisanship, Regionalism, and Shifting Priorities Impact State Immigration Laws, as well as think tanks like the Migration Policy Institute, AS/COA, Pew Research Center, Center for Migration Studies, American Immigration Council
* Compose daily New York State immigration news clip compilations and provide brief synopsis
* Conduct research and draft info sheets on the new American population in New York State using the most recent U.S. Census data
* Other tasks assigned may include administrative assistance such as filing, editing documents, and data entry

We are seeking one intern for 10-19 hours a week for a period of three months, with the possibility of renewal for another three months. Office hours are Monday - Friday, from 9am - 5pm.
