Clinical Placement Opportunity and Graduate Nurse Internship Program
The State of New York knows that nurses are a scarce resource nationwide, but we believe we can offer your students a unique nursing experience. The State highly values the contributions made by its RNs, LPNs and Nurse Practitioners who work in challenging and rewarding positions in locations across the State in an environment that encourages and supports professional growth and career opportunities. We employ nearly 7,000 RNs and Nurse Practioners in direct patient care and more than 500 in non-direct care areas such as administration, nursing home inspections and research.
We understand that most nursing students retain employment at hospitals, organizations, and/or community clinics where they gained their clinical placement experience. We hope to establish a coordinated program with your school to provide interested students the placements they need to fulfill required clinical hours while having an opportunity to serve New York State citizens and experience work as a public sector nurse.
The Coordinated Clinical Placement Program is envisioned to link schools and their nursing students with NYS agencies, allowing nursing students to fulfill required clinical hours while giving them exposure to employment opportunities with New York State agencies. We understand that most nursing students are recruited and retain employment with hospitals, organizations, and/or community clinics that they gained during their clinical placement experience. The Coordinated Clinical Placement Program will offer nursing students a unique clinical experience with a NYS agency. We hope with State clinical placement opportunities students will gain an interest and consider a nursing career with New York State.
