<span style='mso-bookmark:top'><span style='font-size:14.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:12.0pt'>Retirement Systems Information Representatives are responsible for the dissemination of retirement information to individual members of the New York State and Local Retirement Systems and the New York State Teachers' Retirement System (NYSTRS), their beneficiaries, their employers, and the employee or retiree organizations that represent their interests. They resolve problems and answer questions from members and retirees at the Systems' headquarters in Albany or at field consultation sites or regional centers throughout New York State. Positions in this series are in the Office of the State Comptroller and in the Teachers' Retirement System.<o:p></o:p></span></span>

<span style='mso-bookmark:top'><span style='font-size:14.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:12.0pt'>RETIREMENT SYSTEMS INFORMATION REPRESENTATIVE 1: conducts personal interviews at field sites or conducts consultation via video conferencing; functions as front-line staff in a Call Center environment; addresses informational meetings sponsored by employer or employee groups; provides consultation services either in person or through the use of video conferencing technology; provides information on retirement plans, options, and procedures, eligibility for retirement death and disability benefits, availability of retirement loans, withdrawals of contributions, and possible Federal income tax liabilities in person or in response to incoming telephone inquiries; develops and prepares layouts for retirement information booklets, brochures, and newsletters; plans and conducts seminars; may meet with organizations such as county legislatures and school boards to explain participation, costs, and benefits;<span style='font-weight: bold'> </span>provides feedback to supervisors on suggestions received from system members, pensioners, and employers regarding policies and procedures; responds to inquiries from members concerning retirement matters; and researches proposed legislation.<o:p></o:p></span></span>

 

<span style='mso-bookmark:top'><span style='font-size:14.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:12.0pt'>RETIREMENT SYSTEMS INFORMATION REPRESENTATIVE 2: develops plans designed to reach major employer/employee groups Statewide or in an assigned region; develops schedules and agendas for general meetings, employer specific consultation days, and participation in regional Retirement System related events; conducts meetings or supervises lower-level Information Representatives and Agency Services Representatives at group presentations; conducts individual consultations at System headquarters, field sites and conventions; trains and oversees the performance of staff in a Call Center environment; develops a methodology for consistent application and dissemination of evolving legislation and resulting rule and regulation; provides technical oversight, guidance and mentoring on the application of Retirement Law to Representatives 1 for the more complex retirement matters; prepares and conducts training for Representatives 1 using a variety of innovative techniques; assists in the development and implementation of intranet-based applications and other innovative techniques to improve the delivery of information to members and reviews and assists in the development of informational publications, outreach projects and programs and recommends amendments.<o:p></o:p></span></span>

 

<span style='mso-bookmark:top'><span style='font-size:14.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:12.0pt'>RETIREMENT SYSTEMS INFORMATION REPRESENTATIVE 3: manages and maintains one of the Retirement Systems' Regional Information Centers; identifies staffing and equipment necessary to maintain the Center; supervises lower-level Information Representatives and Agency Services Representatives assigned to the region; acts as the Retirement Systems' agent in dealing with building superintendents, rental agents, and building support staff; organizes and conducts seminars and recommends programs targeted for employees within an assigned region; and travels within the region to provide needed services at public and private facilities. Positions in the New York State Teachers’ Retirement System manage and coordinate in-house consultations, video consultations, field consultations, benefit presentations and all Call Center activity; perform complex problem resolution; resolve staffing issues in light of competing and changing priorities; conduct periodic meetings to discuss and resolve difficult or complex individual retirement cases; apply current Retirement Law and procedure as they relate to communications with members; evaluate and apply changes in legislation and procedure to staff for consistent dissemination to members and supervises subordinate staff.<o:p></o:p></span></span>
