SUPPORT SERVICES ASSISTANT, GRADE 5
New York State Department of Civil Service
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF CLASS
Support Services Assistants perform duties to assist New York State employees with disabilities in the performance of their duties. Most Support Services Assistants read and summarize various written materials and take notes at meetings and other work related gatherings, but the specific duties depend on the needs of the employee being assisted. Duties may include providing personal assistance.
SUPPORT SERVICES ASSISTANT: most positions are in the non-competitive jurisdictional classification; established as a reasonable accommodation to assist individual State employees with disabilities in performing their duties; duties and work schedule are tailored to meet the needs of the employee being assisted; typically work part-time; function in an ancillary role and do not supplant any regular staff positions.
As this class is unique in its focus of providing assistance to individual employees, not their positions, there are no closely related classes.
