X-Ray Aides perform routine technical support activities in an x-ray laboratory or clinic. X-Ray Aides are classified primarily in the Health Science Centers of the State University.
X-RAY AIDE: non-competitive jurisdictional class; performs a mix of simple technical support activities requiring limited training; works under the supervision of higher level technical or supervisory staff.
Senior X-Ray Aides supervise and train X-Ray Aides and perform technical support activities.
Radiologic Technologists operate equipment to perform radiologic examinations of patients and set up and operate equipment to develop films. Appointment requires licensure as a general Radiologic Technologist.
X-RAY AIDE: processes x-ray films; prepares developing solutions; controls access to patient charts, releasing documents only to authorized personnel or in accordance with procedures; sorts and files films and maintains files; assists in preparing, cleaning, and maintaining x-ray rooms, examining rooms, and patient dressing areas; assists in setting up equipment; escorts and transports patients to and from x-ray rooms; assists in positioning patients and aiding them in getting on and off tables; picks up and delivers films and records to other areas; schedules patient appointments; and maintains records of patient visits and examinations.
Non-competitive: high school graduation.
