Classification Standard

 

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF CLASS

 

The two positions in this class provide marketing support to the Correctional Industries Program.  The incumbent conducts an ongoing review of the Office of General Services Statewide bidding process to identify product opportunities and/or conflicts; prepares documentation necessary to gain division product approvals from the Office of General Services (OGS); assists in new product research and development initiatives; and coordinates the development of the divisions promotional materials and displays. Incumbents at the Department of Correctional Services (DOCS) assist in the total care and confinement of inmates sentenced to the custody of the Department.  This position is classified at DOCS.

 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

 

CORRECTIONAL INDUSTRIES MARKETING ASSISTANT: full-performance level; positions provide marketing support to the operation of the Corcraft Customer Center and Correctional Industries Program in general.

Lottery Marketing Specialists are responsible for marketing and promotion communications functions at the New York State Lottery to ensure a completely integrated and coordinated marketing and sales communication program.

 

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES

 

Conduct ongoing review of Statewide bidding process carried out by the OGS to identify division product opportunities and/or conflicts throughout the State. 

 

·        Review all bidding communications such as proposals, specifications, and invitations for bid.

 

·        Review various reports of contract, related opportunities, and/or conflicts with division product lines.

 

Prepare on a project basis, all documentation necessary to seek and gain division product approvals from OGS.

 

·        Perform routine product research to identify items, specifications, and promotional literature to accompany requests for product approvals.

 

·        Prepare and submit all requests to OGS.

 

·        Coordinate samples, testing, and follow-up as required to obtain approvals from OGS.

 

·        Manage division files recording date and any applicable conditions of product approval.

 

Assist in various new product development initiatives as planned in accordance with yearly marketing and sales goals and objectives.

 

·        Prepare preliminary product studies to identify product features, pricing strategy and/or promotional technique based on competitive elements.

 

·        Coordinate market research in support of projects as required (via sales staff and/or research consultants).

 

·        Develop pricing recommendations as required for new products.

 

·        Develop promotional literature as required for new products.

 

·        Coordinate targeted mailings of those materials.

 

Coordinate development of divisions promotional materials in accordance with yearly marketing and sales goals and objectives.

 

·        Develop preliminary vendor quotations for budget review and approval process.

 

·        Coordinate vended services for design/layout and printing.

 

·        Develop promotional copy as required on a project basis.

 

Coordinate development of division promotional displays in accordance with yearly marketing and sales goals and objectives. 

 

·        Develop preliminary vendor quotations for budget review and approval process.

 

·        Coordinate vended services for graphics and/or display materials.

 

·        Develop promotional copy as required.

 

Provide ongoing management of service center to assure highest level of visibility/service to Corcraft customers.  Review center operations for development of recommendations and reporting. 

 

·        Coordinate/manage staffing and scheduling to assure maximum business hours are achieved.

 

·        Coordinate development of all product displays according to display schedule.

 

·        Develop and coordinate procedures to assure follow-up of all customer inquiries logged.

 

·        Develop and coordinate procedures to provide Quick Ship service for direct customer pickup of selected products.

 

·        Coordinate development of interior/exterior graphics consistent or complimentary to division corporate identity.

 

·        Provide weekly report on overall center activities.

 

·        Represent Corcraft at association conferences and seminars throughout the State.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

 

Non-competitive:  eight years of related marketing experience; or an Associates Degree and six years of related marketing experience; or a Bachelors Degree and four years of related marketing experience.
