Classification Standard

 

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF CLASS SERIES

 

Positions in this title series direct and supervise regional maintenance, construction, and rehabilitation operations. Incumbents supervise permanent and seasonal staff assigned to Regional Maintenance Units.

 

These positions are classified only at the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.

 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

 

REGIONAL PARK MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR: supervises large crews of specialized trades workers; coordinates daily and long-range maintenance and rehabilitation projects for an entire region; and performs administrative duties as members of regional management teams.

  

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES

 

REGIONAL PARK MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR 

 

Determines required staffing for projects, performs initial interviews, and makes hiring determinations.

 

Plans and schedules work projects for regionwide work crews, which includes maintaining production records, managing fleet vehicles, and tracking funding.

 

Performs on-site inspections to ensure adherence to building and fire codes.

 

Performs administrative duties, which includes ensuring appropriate materials and tools are available, preparing and submitting budget requests, and establishing and monitoring preventive maintenance programs.

 

Designs and implements formal training programs and instructs regional staff in proper maintenance and safety techniques.

 

Participates as a member of regional management group.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

REGIONAL PARK MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR 

 

Promotion: one year of service in a position allocated at or above Salary Grade 11.

 

Open-Competitive: six years of experience in the construction, operation, or maintenance of a park or recreational facility in a park setting; two years of this experience must be at a supervisory level.
