BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF CLASS

 

          The position functions as the statewide brand manager for Quick Draw games for the New York State Lottery at the New York State Gaming Commission.

 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

 

          QUICK DRAW PROGRAM SPECIALIST: one-position class; under the general direction of the Lottery Sales Manager in the Division of Lottery, identify, review, and develop targeted marketing and sales demographics for the Quick Draw brand to develop and enhance Quick Draw game sales. The position does not supervise.

 

RELATED CLASSES

 

          Lottery Research & Program Development Specialist designs and develops instant and on-line games for the New York State Lottery at the New York State Gaming Commission.

 

          Lottery Advertising Supervisors administer contracts with the Division of the Lotterys media partners to implement the New York States lottery advertising program.

 

          Lottery Sales Manager prepares a statewide sales development plan to align with the Division of the Lotterys marketing plan at the New York State Gaming Commission.

 

          Director Lottery Advertising, under the general direction of the Director Lottery Marketing, manages the agencys mixed multi-media communication program.  The incumbent directs mass communications for each Division of the Lotterys products, explaining various games changes, special player bonuses, and promotions. 

 

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES

 

          Identify and contact new major bar and restaurant chain corporations as prospects for Quick Draw sales; develop prospecting sales tools and plans, monitor expansion of Quick Draw availability and market penetration; provide feedback or recommend Quick Draw merchandising plans; identify player demographics for targeted marketing; review and analyze sales performance by retailer type and region; develop sales goals, marketing approach, promotional offers and retailer incentives for Quick Draw games; evaluate existing game features and proposed game changes; develop retailer recruitment materials or sales tools; oversee point of sale design, changes, and distribution methods; determine and implement changes to display graphics and presentation of winning numbers on Quick Draw monitors; provide feedback and input on marketing research performed by marketing staff; and review sales tools and evaluate other states similar games to enhance New York sales.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Open Competitive:  a bachelors degree in marketing, business administration, advertising or a related field, and five years of experience* in marketing, business, or as a professional business, government, or research analyst.

 

*Substitution: a masters degree in the above fields substitutes for one year of experience; a doctorate in the above fields may substitute for two years of experience.
