BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF CLASS

 

Aircraft Scheduling Assistants oversee the dispatch operations of the Aviation Unit at the Division of State Police. These positions coordinate the Aviation Unit’s aircrafts and equipment, and maintain records of missions and flight conditions.

                       

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

 

AIRCRAFT SCHEDULING ASSISTANT: non-competitive; maintains roster of available crews, aircrafts, scheduled missions, and points of contact; and oversees the dispatch operations of the Aviation Unit.

 

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES

 

Under the supervision of an Aircraft Pilot, oversees the dispatch operations of the Aviation Unit; informs crews and support personnel of scheduled missions and status, including weather condition delays and changes to equipment; acts as central point of contact for requests for Executive Airlift; receives incoming requests for travel and makes initial determination of eligibility and availability of equipment; provides usage reports for Executive Airlift travel; assists in advance planning for all executive and utility missions; evaluates crew duty limitations and rest criteria and advises if guidelines are exceeded; maintains records of flight dispatch and flight following; coordinates changes in itinerary and/or equipment; supplies weather and maintenance conditions to determine if operating environment permits execution of assigned airlift tasks; and responds to incoming calls, correspondence, and reports, and answers inquiries.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Non-competitive: five years of experience dispatching aircrafts.
