BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF CLASS

 

          The Director Administrative Support Services Group oversees the Office of Mental Health’s (OMH) statewide capital program and support service operations including facilities management, safety and security, nutrition, the cook chill food production center, transportation, real property, revitalization teams, and the energy program.

 

This position is only classified at OMH.

 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

         

DIRECTOR ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT SERVICES GROUP: one position class; oversees ASSG operations and supervises all bureau directors within the ASSG. 

 

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES

 

Directs capital operations activities, including capital construction planning and budgeting; and project development, management, and coordination.

 

 

Directs support services operations for all of OMH’s leased and State-owned properties, including sale of surplus property.

 

·       Oversees the management and administration of power, water, sewer, and buildings and grounds maintenance activities for all OMH facilities.

·       Oversees the administration of food service operations at OMH facilities, and food production operations at the Cook/Chill Production Center.

·       Oversees the management of furniture and equipment specifications, orders, and deliveries; surplus property disposition; real property purchase, lease, and sales; fleet management; and interior design activities.

·       Oversees the administration of facility safety and security programs; fire safety training; and Life Safety Code compliance for all OMH facilities.

·       Oversees the vehicle fleet and energy program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Non-Competitive: bachelor’s degree and nine years of administrative experience in capital planning and operations in a large organization. Four years of this experience must have included capital planning and project management experience and must have been at a managerial level.

 

A large organization is defined as an agency, facility, region, or group of facilities over an aggregate of 250,000 square feet; or with an average capital investment total equal to or exceeding $1,000,000.

 

A master’s degree in business, public administration, or hospital administration may substitute for one year of the general experience.
