Classification Standard

 

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF CLASS

 

          Positions in this title supervise a team of professionals determining training and technical assistance needs of low performing school buildings to improve the delivery of educational services, provide safe school environments, and/or oversee grant programs. These positions are only found in the State Education Department.

 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

 

          SUPERVISOR SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLANNING:  supervises professional educators assigned to school improvement for low performing school buildings.  

 

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES

 

          SUPERVISOR SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLANNING

 

Supervises professional educators, including at least two Associates.

 

Coordinates the implementation of the Diagnostic Tool for School and District Effectiveness (DTSDE) for identified Priority and Focus Schools; assesses school improvement efforts and supports schools and districts as they implement highly effective educational practices; ensures proper alignment between the evidence provided and the DTSDE rubric and rating.

 

Prepares written materials, including correspondence, reports, and research, to assist in the development of policies and procedures related to the various components of the District and School Review Team; and engages in and facilitates professional development activities related to the DTSDE process.

 

Provides leadership to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) on the implementation of ESEA program policies, including district and school level accountability, and school improvement.

 

Participates in compliance monitoring.

 

Reviews District Comprehensive Improvement Plans, School Comprehensive Education Plans, and Consolidated Applications and budgets.

 

Prepares program Monitoring Reports and associated Corrective Action plans.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Promotion:  one year of permanent competitive service as an Associate in Education Improvement Services.
