Classification Standard

 

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF CLASS

 

The Supervisor Installation and Repair is responsible for the management, coordination, and supervision of all installation and repair activities of Corcraft products.  The incumbent oversees Correctional Industries Installation and Repair Technicians and work release inmate laborers.

 

This position is only classified in the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS).

 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

 

SUPERVISOR INSTALLATION AND REPAIR:  one position class; non-competitive jurisdictional class; manages State workers and inmates at Corcraft providing oversight to various installation and repair activities.

 

RELATED CLASSES

 

Correctional Industries Installation and Repair Technicians are responsible for installing and repairing Corcraft products throughout the State.  Repair work is similar to that performed by other semiskilled maintenance positions.

 

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES

 

Manages all installation and repair activities for Correctional Industries.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Prepares and submits reports on installation and repair activities.

 

 

 

 

Develops and submits recommendations on staffing, materials, and related costs.

 

 

 

Coordinates related installation and repair activities.

 

 

 

Maintains equipment and vehicles.

 

 

 

Supervises the Repair Unit in Central Office and all relevant staff.

 

 

 

 

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Non-Competitive:  five years of experience in a planning, costing, assigning, and completion of work related to construction and/or installation of furnishings, which must include one or more of the following: inventory management of parts/components including ordering and receiving; supervision of three or more staff in the completion of installation and/or construction projects; or direct contact with customers or clients with responsibility for completion of complex projects.
