Requests for Reasonable Accommodation in State Agencies Timeline*

This timeline explains the steps taken by State agencies for reasonable accommodation requests.
Step 1: Initial request is made to supervisor or the designated responsible person for reasonable accommodation. One week for supervisor to review application, inform employee and return form to the designated responsible person for reasonable accommodation.
 
Step 2: One week for the designated responsible person for reasonable accommodation to notify employee that additional information is needed.
 
Step 3: One week for employee to return form to the designated responsible person for reasonable accommodation.
 
Step 4: Three weeks for agency review process to take place.
 
Step 5: One week for the designated responsible person for reasonable accommodation to notify employee that agency will grant the accommodation or that the accommodation has been denied.
 
Step 6: One week for agency head to confirm approval or denial.
 
Step 7: One week for employee to sign authorization for external review process (Compliance Review Board).
 
Step 8: One week for the designated responsible person for reasonable accommodation to send request to the Department of Civil Service.
