Job Description

As a Medical Technologist 1, you would: Perform specialized chemical, physical, and microscopic clinical laboratory procedures and tests on human tissue specimens and body fluids in accordance with approved standards and operating procedures. Prepare specimens and samples for testing; and operate, adjust, monitor, and maintain clinical laboratory instruments and equipment. Analyze, interpret, and discuss test results and findings with higher-level clinical laboratory staff, healthcare professionals, and/or scientists. Document clinical laboratory activities, maintains required records, and prepares statistical reports. Implement new or modified clinical laboratory procedures and techniques as directed. Perform administrative functions as necessary, such as managing equipment and supply inventories and assisting in the preparation of budget and purchase requests to ensure the proper function of the laboratory. May participate in quality assurance activities; assist in the research and development of new clinical laboratory techniques, procedures, and methodologies; prepare and analyze specimens and samples for use in clinical laboratory proficiency testing; and supervise and/or train other clinical laboratory staff in technical procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

You must meet the requirements below to qualify for this title.

Possession of a license and current registration to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in New York State.
