Municipal Civil Service Agencies
The Department of Civil Service provides technical advice, guidance, and direct services to the 95 municipal civil service agencies across New York State on a wide range of merit system administration and human resource management issues.
The Department of Civil Service is the primary contact for the State Civil Service Commission in dealing with local government on a wide spectrum of civil service and personnel-related issues.

Service of Process - Lawsuits and Subpoenas
Only representatives of the Department's Counsel's Office are authorized to accept service of legal papers on behalf of the Department of Civil Service.
