Description:
The Security ID Program involves the installation of electronic access control systems and management of the statewide employee and vendor identification system to facilitate authorized access to OGS-owned and managed buildings and selected leased buildings throughout the State. The Emergency Management Program supports the development and maintenance of the Agency's Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (CEMP) and Business Continuity Plan (BCP).
Under the New York State Executive Law, Article 2B, OGS has been designated a member of the State Disaster Preparedness Commission (DPC) which is comprised of more than thirty three state agencies and organizations. All DPC members are assigned roles and responsibilities for disaster preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery. To fulfill its roles and responsibilities under Article 2B, and enabling Federal Homeland Security Presidential Directives, OGS has developed a Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan and a Business Continuity Plan. These plans are multi-hazard in scope and ensure efficient response to myriad emergencies and continuity of the agency's business operations under any and all events. These plans also ensure the support of the Disaster Preparedness Commission when the State Emergency Operations Center is activated.
Under the New York State Buildings Law, OGS owns and operates several buildings and leases buildings for state agencies to carry out their required mandates. Security of, and in, these buildings to protect the physical structures, state employees and visitors, must be assured. The Security ID Program helps to facilitate this objective.
