Statistician Trainee, G-13

Statisticians assist higher level professionals in applying statistical concepts to the planning of statistical studies. The major objective of this activity is to provide management with bases for decisions in research and administration through specific descriptive summaries and evaluations of numeric data, usually concerned with a specific program area or subject matter field and initiated in response to program needs and to various mandated activities. These positions are located in the Workers' Compensation Board and the Department of Labor.
Trainees will receive a combination of structured training, on-the-job training, and/or practical job performance to gain the knowledge and experience necessary to function at the full performance level.
You must meet the requirements below to qualify for this title.
A bachelor's or higher degree in statistics.
ORA bachelor's or higher degree including or supplemented by 24 semester credit hours in biostatistics, computer science, economics/econometrics, mathematics, operations research, research methods, and/or statistics.
Most employees will be appointed to the Trainee job title.
Appointments to this job title require a one-year traineeship that starts at the Trainee, G-13, and advances, after one year of acceptable performance, to the Statistician, G-14, job title described above. No further Civil Service examination is required for advancement from Trainee to the Statistician.
Advanced Placement Appointments - For most trainee titles, employees may be able to be appointed directly to the Trainee 2 level or to the full performance title if they meet certain qualifications. This is known as advanced placement and is at the discretion of the hiring agency. You must have or expect to receive a bachelor's or higher degree by September 1, 2020.
The 2019 PCO will be open for application from January 18, 2019. To apply for the examination for this PCO Select Job Title you must apply for the PCO examination by February 20, 2019, fill out and submit the PCO Questionnaire by April 5, 2019, and take the PCO written test in April of 2019.
