All salary grades for trainees titles are non-statutory (NS) equated to the salary grade identified. These grade equations apply to the starting salaries in their respective salary schedule for the traineeship levels.

Job Description

Program Specialists (Cannabis) perform a broad range of professional, administrative, and technical tasks in the administration, supervision, and oversight of programs/units within the Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) involving the licensure of persons authorized to cultivate, process, distribute, and sell cannabis and the use of cannabis by persons aged twenty-one and older.

Trainees will receive a combination of structured training, on-the-job training, and/or practical job performance to gain the knowledge and experience necessary to function at the full performance level.

Either 1. One year of professional experience in a regulatory compliance/oversight entity that included two or more of the following: accounting and auditing; investigating and/or inspecting regulated entities and facilities; interpreting and explaining policies, rules, regulations, or laws to organizations, government or corporate officials, or individuals; policy analysis and research; surveillance; quality assurance that included evaluating whether projects met/are meeting requirements that included risk assessment; providing professional level economic development products or services; community outreach which included vulnerable populations; negotiating and/or approving contracts or agreements with suppliers, distributors, federal or state agencies, or other administrative control processes; OR

2. A master's degree or higher in accounting, agriculture, analytics, applied biology, biology, business administration, business management, chemical engineering, communications, criminal justice, economics, epidemiology, finance, health administration, health policy, horticulture, management and administration, microbiology, plant sciences, political science, psychology, public administration, public health, public policy, sociology, statistics, urban studies.

For the Full Performance Level you must also have:

Either 1.
