All salary grades for trainees titles are non-statutory (NS) equated to the salary grade identified. These grade equations apply to the starting salaries in their respective salary schedule for the traineeship levels.

Job Description

As a Human Resources Specialist 1 (Classification and Compensation), you would analyze requests to classify and allocate new positions or change the classification or allocation of existing positions and classes; gather information from records, interviews, job audits, and other sources; discuss requests with agency human resources (HR) staff and program managers; draft a written analysis of the information gathered and comparisons to other positions and classes, and recommend course of action; discuss recommendations with supervisory staff; drafts letters to agencies describing the reasons for determinations; field calls from various individuals and entities on Division's activities; draft classification standards consistent with guidelines; analyze requests for various salary actions and make proper determinations; participate in teams and special projects concerned with evaluating occupations, conducting training for agencies, and reviewing major title consolidation proposals; and perform collateral activities such as reviewing transfer appropriateness, determining negotiating unit assignments for new classes, and recommending qualifications.

Trainees will receive a combination of structured training, on-the-job training, and/or practical job performance to gain the knowledge and experience necessary to function at the full performance level.

A bachelor's or higher degree.

Advanced Placement

If chosen, you may, at the agency's discretion, be appointed to a higher level. You must inform the agency of any additional qualifications at your interview.

Either 1. One year of professional experience *; OR

2. A Juris Doctor, master's or higher degree in a field related to the position being filled **

For the Full Performance Level you must also have:

Either 1. Two years of professional experience*; OR

2. A Juris Doctor, master's or higher degree in a field related to the position being filled** AND one year of professional experience*.

*Professional experience must be performing the duties of the full performance level position.
