Budget Examiner Trainee 1, G-13
As a Budget Examiner, you would review, analyze, and make recommendations on the funding and program and capital construction plans of assigned State agencies, or portions thereof; monitor the expenditure of approved funds for effective and efficient utilization; analyze and make recommendations on legislation; and may participate in studies of budgetary issues and agency programs and operations. Positions in this class are found only in the Executive Department, Division of the Budget.
Trainees will receive a combination of structured training, on-the-job training, and/or practical job performance to gain the knowledge and experience necessary to function at the full performance level.

You must meet the requirements below to qualify for this title.
Bachelor's or higher degree.
Most employees will be appointed to the Trainee 1 job title.
Appointments to this job title require a two-year traineeship that starts at the Trainee 1, G-13, and advances, after one year of acceptable performance, to Trainee 2, G-14. After one year of acceptable performance as a Trainee 2, employees advance to the Budget Examiner 1, G-18, job title described above. No further Civil Service examination is required for advancement from Trainee 1 to Trainee 2, or from Trainee 2 to the Budget Examiner 1 job title.
Advanced Placement Appointments - For most trainee titles, employees may be able to be appointed directly to the Trainee 2 level or to the Budget Examiner 1 title if they meet certain qualifications. This is known as advanced placement and is at the discretion of the hiring agency. You must have or expect to receive a bachelor's or higher degree by September 1, 2020.
The 2019 PCO will be open for application from January 18, 2019. To apply for the examination for this PCO Generalist Job Title you must apply for the PCO examination by February 20, 2019 and take the PCO written test in April of 2019.
