All salary grades for trainees titles are non-statutory (NS) equated to the salary grade identified. These grade equations apply to the starting salaries in their respective salary schedule for the traineeship levels.
Job Description
Food Programs Evaluation Specialists are responsible for providing requisite oversight and expert technical assistance to schools and other contractors participating in the National School Lunch, School Breakfast, Summer Food Service, After-School Snack, Fresh Fruit and Vegetable, and Specialist Milk programs to ensure optimal program integrity and that programs are in full compliance with federal and State regulations.
Trainees will receive a combination of structured training, on-the-job training, and/or practical job performance to gain the knowledge and experience necessary to function at the full performance level.

Minimum Qualifications
You must meet the requirements below to qualify for this title.
Either 1. A bachelor's or higher degree in nutrition, nutritional science, nutrition education, or dietetics; OR
2. a bachelor's or higher degree in food service management, institutional food service management, or hotel and restaurant management including or supplemented by three (3) credit hours in nutrition.
Advanced Placement
If chosen, you may, at the agency's discretion, be appointed to a higher level. You must inform the agency of any additional qualifications at your interview.

For Trainee 2 you must also have:
Either 1. One year of experience* in nutritional science, nutrition education, dietetics, food service management, institutional food service management, or hotel and restaurant management; OR
2. A master's or higher degree in nutrition, nutritional science, nutrition education, or dietetics; OR
3. a master's or higher degree in food service management, institutional food service management, or hotel and restaurant management including or supplemented by three (3) credit hours in nutrition.
For the Full Performance Level you must also have:
Either 1.Two years of experience* in nutritional science, nutrition education, dietetics, food service management, institutional food service management, or hotel and restaurant management;OR
2. A master's or higher degree in nutrition, nutritional science, nutrition education, or dietetics AND one year of experience* in nutritional science, nutrition education, dietetics, food service management, institutional food service management, or hotel and restaurant management; OR
3. a master's or higher degree in food service management, institutional food service management, or hotel and restaurant management including or supplemented by three (3) credit hours in nutrition AND one year of experience* in nutritional science, nutrition education, dietetics, food service management, institutional food service management, or hotel and restaurant management.
*Examples of non-qualifying work experience: Food service worker; wait or catering staff; fast food or short order cook; chef, sous-chef, or other restaurant kitchen staff; food demonstrator/sales; grocery store clerk/cashier; butcher; dietary aide; marketing associate; personal trainer; food production; fitness coach; and home health aide.
