Job Description
Radiological Health Specialists apply specialized knowledge in radiation protection by regulating the statewide use and possession of radioactive materials and radiation-producing equipment to prevent unnecessary radiation exposure to the public; conduct radiological health inspections, review applications for licensure to possess or use radioactive materials and radiation-producing equipment; investigate issues involving licensed radiologic technologists; perform environmental monitoring and sampling activities; participate in radiation incident response activities; and provide consultation and assistance to local health departments, emergency responders, and other State agencies.
Trainees will receive a combination of structured training, on-the-job training, and/or practical job performance to gain the knowledge and experience necessary to function at the full performance level.
