All salary grades for trainees titles are non-statutory (NS) equated to the salary grade identified. These grade equations apply to the starting salaries in their respective salary schedule for the traineeship levels.

Job Description

Training Specialists develop and present training programs to improve the on-the-job knowledge, skills, and abilities of employees to better enable them to carry out the employing agencys mission. Training Specialists may train agency employees directly; or may provide direct training to local government employees or other parties; or may develop and administer contracts for providing training services. Training Specialists (Addictions) are found in the Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, perform similar these functions within the addictions field for other professionals within that field, and are charged with assisting substance abuse counselors receive and maintain the proper certification or credential.

If chosen, you may, at the agency's discretion, be appointed to a higher level. You must inform the agency of any additional qualifications at your interview.

View Additional Qualifications

Two years of staff development and training in the addictions field. Experience must include developing addictions and/or substance abuse curricula and organizing and delivering such curricula to human services professionals. Qualifying experience must have been exclusively or predominately in the areas of addictions and/or substance abuse. NOTE: Mainstream classroom teaching or clinical groups counseling is NOT considered qualifying.
