Individuals in this job title are responsible for composing or editing audit and technical reports and other documents concerning the financial and management plans and performance of New York State, its civil divisions (including cities, counties, towns, villages, school districts, and public authorities) and regional economies; office newsletters; annual office reports; press office approvals; internet site content; and other correspondence and communications material issued by the office for internal and/or external distribution. They proof read all draft and final audit reports to ensure they meet division standards for format presentation, accuracy in spelling, grammar and computation; determine and maintain uniform standards of style and usage for all written materials produced by the office, ensuring organizational logic, correlation of content and layout, and propriety of tone. They are responsible for communicating such standards of style and usage and for improving the writing ability of staff by developing and conducting training programs, and providing individual staff consultations as needed.
