Job Description
Trainees receive on-the-job and/or structured training to gain the knowledge and experience necessary at the full performance level to assist in the analysis of materials for highway, building, and structural construction and maintenance; investigate to develop new tests and standardize test procedures to reduce testing time and increase test production; investigate field problems in the use of materials which have proved satisfactory in laboratory analysis, but which are reported unsatisfactory in uses; carry out complex and unusually responsible procedures such as the analysis of samples of materials for composite beams and the design of special concrete mixes; supervise subordinate technical personnel engaged in performing standardize tests and train them in necessary procedures; assist the Senior Engineering Materials Analyst in charge of a major testing unit; and may assist in research and development work.
