Performance Test Manager

Overview

Many State agencies employ keyboarding staff. The Department of Civil Service has developed a Keyboard Test, a computer-administered performance test designed to assess candidates' keyboarding skills. The Keyboard Test will immediately test, score, and print results of candidates' keyboarding skills. The Keyboard Test is one of the tests contained in the Performance Test Manager (PTM) program. The PTM program can be downloaded for installation onto personal computers.

The Department of Civil Service has decentralized the Keyboard Test administration to enable State agencies to test keyboarding candidates on a schedule that best meets each agency's needs. To receive authorization to use the Keyboard Test, State agencies must designate agency Test Coordinators and Test Administrators to oversee the Keyboard Test administration in accordance with Civil Service Laws, Rules, and Regulations, in addition to the Department's testing policies, procedures, and security requirements.
