The Employee Benefits Division (EBD) of the New York State Department of Civil Service is pleased to announce Medicare & NYSHIP’s Empire Plan for Participating Agencies, a companion to the publication Medicare & NYSHIP for PA Retirees.

The video, in DVD and VHS format, is for Agency Health Benefits Administrators (HBAs) to present at group meetings or to lend to employees who are interested in this topic, nearing Medicare age or who have a Medicare-eligible dependent.

Medicare & NYSHIP’s Empire Plan features a conversation with Christine Williams, Assistant Director of Benefits Administration and the Manager of the EBD Policy Unit.  Topics include:

Medicare Eligibility
NYSHIP Pays Second to Medicare
Medicare and Your Dependents
Retiring after Age 65
Medicare A, B, C
Medicare Part D
Medicare Reimbursement
Returning to Work
When you have Questions

When you plan to distribute the video at group meetings or to an individual, be sure to hand out the companion print piece, “Medicare & NYSHIP for PA retirees.” PA0138 is available on the Retiree Publications Supply Request Order Form on HBA online.  You may also use the attached special order form.

To get you started, we are shipping a small supply to your agency.  Please wait until you receive that shipment, then, if you need more, you may order additional copies.

We hope you find these new tools helpful.  We appreciate your assistance in helping your enrollees understand Medicare & NYSHIP.  If you have questions about Medicare, please ask your processor.  If you have questions about this distribution, please call the EBD Communications Unit at 518-457-7577.
