GSEU benefits information is at the printer

We are happy to announce that a Welcome to NYSHIP letter and a GSEU Benefit Summary are at the printer and will be mailed to GSEU-represented employees in late December. Copies of the Welcome letter, Benefit Summary and Reorder form are attached for SUNY HBAs only.

Distribution

The two pieces will be mailed together in a polywrap bag by First Class mail. We are drawing labels from NYBEAS for employees currently enrolled in the Student Employee Health Plan (SEHP) for dental coverage as of mid-December.

The welcome letter explains the transition of medical coverage from Univera to NYSHIP and the start of vision coverage, effective January 1, 2002, as well as continuation of the dental coverage introduced on July 1, 2001. We will not ship you a surplus of the letter, because you will not need to hand out copies to future enrollees. (If you need a few extra copies for any reason, please photocopy the attached.)

The Benefit Summary is for use throughout 2002. You will receive a surplus supply equal to 10% of your GSEU enrollment. Please hand out a copy to each new enrollee. Please also inform new enrollees that their biweekly premium rate for 2002 for medical, dental and vision coverage is $4.82 for Individual coverage or $22.98 for Family coverage. Note: The rates issued in memo NY01-54 did not reflect the dental/vision portions of the GSEU premium.

To reorder the Benefit Summary, please use the attached Publications Supply Request Form or order on PA-MARKET.

Publications available on the Internet

We are adding GSEU to our Web sites. For PA-MARKET, open NYS Actives and scroll down to "SUNY GSEU." For NYS OnLine, under NYS Actives, click on Executive Branch, then choose "SUNY GSEU."

Identification cards

New health insurance cards effective January 1, 2002 through August 31, 2002 will be mailed directly to enrollees in late December. For dental coverage, enrollees will continue to use the cards GHI issued in July 2001. Cards are not needed to access Vision benefits.

If you have questions about the GSEU Welcome letter or Benefit Summary, please contact the Communications Unit at 518-457-7577.
