SUBJECT: Health Insurance Flyer and Video for Employees Planning for Retirement
DATE: April 2, 1996
Retirement/Retirement Incentive Flyer
We are sending you a copy of Health Insurance and Other Benefits: Guide to the 1996 Retirement Incentive Program and Regular Retirement for Eligible New York State Employees. Ask your agency if the retirement incentive is available to your employees. If it is, you might want to attach a memorandum to the flyer to give your employees agency-specific information. If you need more Guides, please use the order form on the back of this memo.
The Guide explains:
- Eligibility for health insurance in retirement
- Use of leave credits
- Continuing other benefits, including dental and vision care
The information in this Guide also applies to employees who retire under regular retirement provisions.
Planning for Retirement Video
If you haven't already done so, you may order the Employee Benefits Division's 1993 17 minute pre-retirement video explaining health insurance choices in retirement. Please watch this video to determine if it is appropriate for your employees. You may show the video to your employees or lend it out to employees for home viewing. The tape would be useful for all employees considering retirement, whether under an incentive or regular retirement provisions.
If you already have the video: Call us for updated notes.
