The Employee Benefits Division and MetraHealth are implementing a Medicare Crossover pilot program for Medicare-primary Empire Plan enrollees whose address on our file shows Florida residence. Under Medicare Crossover, Medicare, as primary insurer, will process and forward medical claims electronically to MetraHealth Service Corp. for processing. A Medicare-primary Empire Plan enrollee will not need to file the same claim twice.
Once this program is running smoothly, we plan to extend Crossover to Medicare-primary Empire Plan enrollees residing in all areas where Medicare intermediaries offer it.
Please read the enclosed brochure for a more detailed explanation of Crossover. If Empire Plan enrollees who are Medicare-primary ask your help or advice, please reassure them that Medicare Crossover is a convenience for them and in no way changes their benefits under the NYSHIP.
