The Employee Benefits Division (EBD) is pleased to announce the recent publication of Policy Memo 147, “Waiving Late Enrollment Waiting Periods When One or More Dependents Experiences a Qualifying Event.”

Policy Memo 147 clarifies the New York State Health Insurance Program’s (NYSHIP) policy on waiting periods for an enrollee and their previously eligible dependents when one dependent has experienced a qualifying event to newly enroll in coverage without a waiting period. Please refer to the text of the memo for more information.
